travelling wood

This unique piece is originally an early 18th century style Syrian chest which is typically  decorated with mosaic veneer and mother of pearl. Those exact patterns were first employed between 7th and 9th century in Nasrid Spain, where micro mosaic decoration was practiced, typically at that time wood was inlaid with ivory, ebony, bone, metal and mother-of-pearl.
